  • Symbolism in This Rosary

Rhodonite's name comes from the Greek, rhodos, or "rose," and reflects its natural pink color. The variety used in this rosary has black lacing for some contrast.

The rose quartz in the Our Fathers, is likely turned pink by inclusing of titanium or manganese in the crystal. Symbolically, quartz is very likely the stone referred to as “crystal” in the Bible. It was prized for its transparent quality and was used to make both gems and lenses. Both Old and New Testaments use it in metaphors to describe things as shining, clear, and smooth. Even in Biblical times it was a common mineral, and it is often used when describing expansive things, like the firmament or the sea.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Patroness of the Americas, appeared to Juan Diego at Tepeyac in 1531. She has become a national symbol of Mexico and her shrine is the most visited Catholic site in the world. When the Bishop demanded a sign to prove who appeared to him, Our Lady instructed Diego to collect into his cloak the pink roses she would provide. In addition to the roses, Our Lady's image appeared on his cloak, in the form we venerate today.

We chose the Holy Trinity crucifix to complete this rosary, to parallel the triple rose imagery. It depicts the Father supporting the Son on the Cross, with the Holy Spirit present above them.

Also, for as long as we make rosaries (a lifetime, we hope!), if a rosary we made for you ever has a broken linkage, eyepin, or jump ring, we will be happy to repair it, with cost limited to shipping.
