We chose banded agate to bring to mind Christ's wounds a bit more viceraly than the traditional shiny red beads that normally go with these chaplets. The Holy Wounds Chaplet was created by Father Paul Aloysius, the sixth superior general of the Passionists, and approved by Pope Leo XII in 1823, as a devotion to the Five Holy Wounds of our risen Saviour.
